ShortBooks Author Content Agreement

Effective Date: April 14, 2026

This Author Content Agreement governs the rights, responsibilities, and terms applicable to authors who create, upload, publish, distribute, or monetize content through ShortBooks. By using author features, you agree to this Agreement in addition to the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Content Policy, and any other applicable agreements.

1. Ownership of Content

You retain ownership of the original content you create and upload, including stories, books, comics, text, artwork, characters, and related materials, to the extent permitted by law.

You represent and warrant that you own or have all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions to use, upload, publish, and monetize that content.

2. License to ShortBooks

By uploading or publishing content on ShortBooks, you grant ShortBooks a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, format, modify (for technical purposes), market, promote, and otherwise use your content in connection with operating and improving the platform.

This includes displaying your content in reader interfaces, previews, listings, recommendations, promotional placements, and platform-related materials.

3. Monetization

Authors may be allowed to monetize content through purchases, subscriptions, premium access, or other platform features. Monetization eligibility, pricing controls, payout structures, and availability may change at any time.

ShortBooks may withhold, delay, adjust, or deny payouts where necessary for:

  • fraud prevention;
  • chargebacks or disputes;
  • policy violations;
  • intellectual property concerns;
  • legal compliance;
  • platform integrity or operational issues.

4. Refunds and Revenue Adjustments

Digital purchases and subscriptions may be subject to platform refund rules. Where refunds, reversals, or disputes occur, related earnings may be reduced, reversed, or offset against future payouts.

5. Content Responsibility

You are solely responsible for your content and any consequences arising from it. Your content must comply with all applicable laws and platform policies, including the Content Policy and DMCA Policy.

6. Intellectual Property Violations

If your content is subject to infringement claims, disputes, or legal concerns, ShortBooks may remove, restrict, or suspend the content or your account. Repeated violations may result in permanent account termination.

7. Content Moderation

ShortBooks may review, restrict, remove, unpublish, or modify content where necessary for safety, legal compliance, policy enforcement, quality standards, or platform operations.

8. No Guarantee of Distribution or Earnings

ShortBooks does not guarantee visibility, discoverability, sales volume, subscription engagement, or earnings for any content. Platform algorithms, curation, and exposure may change at any time.

9. Account Enforcement

ShortBooks may suspend, restrict, or terminate author accounts for violations of policies, legal risks, abuse, fraud, or misuse of platform tools.

10. Removal of Content

You may remove your content where permitted by platform functionality. However, ShortBooks may retain backup copies, transaction records, and compliance-related data where required.

11. Beta Considerations

During beta phases, content systems, monetization systems, and publishing workflows may change, reset, or be modified without notice.

12. Disclaimer

AUTHOR FEATURES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SHORTBOOKS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS, INCLUDING LOST REVENUE, LOST CONTENT ACCESS, OR PLATFORM CHANGES, ARISING FROM USE OF AUTHOR FEATURES.
