1. Eligibility and Accurate Information
Users must provide accurate account information and comply with applicable law. Users under 18 may need parent or guardian approval. Users under 13 may be subject to child privacy and parental consent requirements before access is granted.
ShortBooks may refuse, restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts that provide inaccurate information, create risk, violate rules, or fail required consent, verification, payment, or legal steps.
2. Accounts and Security
You are responsible for account security and activity. Do not share accounts, bypass access controls, interfere with platform systems, scrape content, exploit bugs, or misuse beta access.
Google sign-in may verify name and email, but it does not bypass ShortBooks legal acceptance, role selection, age checks, parent consent, author requirements, or onboarding.
3. Purchases, Subscriptions, and Digital Access
Payments may be processed by Stripe or another provider. Digital purchases, downloads, subscriptions, and access-based products may be non-refundable once access is granted except where required by law or expressly approved by ShortBooks.
- Subscriptions may renew until canceled.
- Access may be corrected, revoked, refunded, reversed, or adjusted for fraud, errors, chargebacks, compliance, or platform integrity.
- Prices, platform fees, author shares, payout timing, and feature availability may change prospectively.
4. Author Publishing and Payouts
Authors may publish or submit original works, uploads, AI-assisted content, comics, stories, metadata, images, and related materials subject to review and policy enforcement.
Author earnings are subject to refunds, chargebacks, reversals, platform fees, provider fees, taxes, payout thresholds, fraud review, legal holds, and provider availability. Payouts may require Stripe Connect or another provider-managed onboarding flow.
5. Minor Accounts and Payout Restrictions
Minor accounts may remain pending, restricted, or inactive until required parent or guardian approval is complete. Parent approval for account access does not guarantee publishing, monetization, payout, or unrestricted communication access.
Minor authors may require guardian-managed or provider-approved payout workflows before monetization or payout eligibility.
6. Content License
Authors retain ownership of original content, subject to licenses granted to ShortBooks and any third-party rights. Authors grant ShortBooks a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, promote, watermark, process, moderate, reformat, and make content available through the platform.
7. AI and User Content
ShortBooks may include AI-assisted tools. Users remain responsible for prompts, generated text, generated images, uploaded files, titles, descriptions, metadata, rights clearance, accuracy, legality, suitability, and policy compliance. AI assistance does not guarantee originality, approval, revenue, quality, or legal clearance.
8. Moderation and Enforcement
ShortBooks may use automated screening, human review, audit logs, reports, and administrative decisions to approve, reject, re-rate, remove, demonetize, restrict, or require revisions to content or accounts.
9. No Guarantees
ShortBooks does not guarantee publication, ranking, promotion, sales, subscriptions, revenue, discoverability, uptime, continued beta access, or continued availability of any feature.
10. Changes and Contact
ShortBooks may update these Terms. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law. If a user does not agree, the user must stop using the platform.
